I first met Casey in St. Augustine when he stood witness to his friends Jacob & Lauren vowing forever on a gorgeous September day in 2013. Our paths crossed again last November when he was there to see Steven promise forever to Jenny. Only this time he wasn’t alone. He brought with him a beautiful woman who’s shared love of all things photography made me instantly like her. As we chatted at Jenny & Steven’s reception I found there was much more to like & could easily see why Casey had fallen for Elisa.
So, I did what any good photographer would do – I slipped him a card. 🙂 I told him it might be forward but I wanted him to have it, he assured me it wasn’t forward, but right on time. I followed that by saying – in case the need arises, I also offer proposal photography & he replied with ‘That was my next question, because I know that’s something Elisa wants.’ Yippee went my little photographer’s heart as proposals are some of my absolute FAVORITE moments to capture.
When the text arrived from Casey earlier this year asking if I was available on January 22nd because that was the big day – I told him I’d make it clear if it wasn’t already.
On Thursday I joined Jacob & Lauren in setting up & staging their friend’s next chapter in life. The anticipation was nearly tangible.
Standing hidden behind some drapery at the back of the room the minutes seemed to tick by impossibly slowly. We’d been alerted when they arrived in the parking lot & yet it seemed to take FOREVER for them to come through the door. So much anticipation.
Casey presented Elisa with a Bible – some passages were marked for her to read.
Then when she closed it, she saw her name, only it was different. Her new name. When she looked up, she was met with this.
After a few quiet moments I was able to come out & join in the celebration.
I’m guessing at this point that Elisa thought this was the highlight of the evening, but it wasn’t over yet. Casey had arranged a gathering of family & friends, so as he took the ‘scenic’ route to their dinner location – his ‘elves’, if you will, packed up & sped across town to be waiting when they arrived.
Such a fun, sweet evening surrounded by so many who love & support them. Congratulations Casey & Elisa.
